Only Girl Will Take You To The "Mountain", and All The Way Home

So this Saturday night, my head sees fit to randomly remembers this one song, Colour Me. It's a beautiful ethereal song from the singer that goes by the name Only Girl. Apparently, it's enough to make me wonder what's the East London based songstress been up to lately....

Et, voila!

Apparently there is new music from Only Girl (it's a bit weird to say that sentence in my head, really). I'm saying it's "new", but it's been out for a couple months now. This time she chose to take a more upbeat approach to her minimalistic, alt-pop sound, compared to her earlier singles, End of Time and the aforementioned Colour Me.

Produced by Henry Binns of the Zero 7, this would be their second collaboration, the first one being The Colour of Spring, an Only Girl featured song off of their album of Talk Talk covers, Spirit of Talk Talk. Mountain have a bright, sunny undertone thanks to the beautiful high-register vocal from Only Girl, which culminates in an almost orchestral run in the middle-eight.

On her Facebook Page, Only Girl states her influence as Mariah Carey, and on hindsight, it is pretty apparent in this particular song, compared to the xx or Florence Welch tinge on her previous songs. Think of Mountain as a minimal pop version of Butterfly.

Oh, and there's a video too for all you visual type out there. It is, unfortunately,  just that, a visual.

It's basically our Only Girl, now a brunette, running around in a field, shot in an over-overexposure and lens flare-riddled manner, plus a bunch of kaleidoscopic effects. It's not even a mountain, at best it was a moderately-high hill overseeing a town, which you can see in a couple of the shot. But, it is what it is, and really, it's just an excuse to hear the sunny, beautiful song with a matching bright, ethereal visual.
